If I were to guess what Joel’s wants for us going forward, the top three things come to mind:
- Give the life of Jesus a chance to influence you.
- Don’t underestimate your ability to impact this world for the better — starting today. We all can do good.
- If you can do good, then do it.
As time progresses, and in the history of this world, the magnitude of someone’s impact becomes irrelevant to the fact that they took an action. Sorry Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, or Albert Einstein. First I’d argue someone else would have figured out your great achievements anyway. Further, aside from Jesus, the magnitude of a person’s impact diminishes as time goes on. What we are left are not those that did “great things”, but those that did something. Those brave enough to take an action and alter the course of humanity. This requires nothing but the smallest of pebbles cast into the pond setting forth ripples for generations.
